Oncological Surgeries

Surgeries for cancer are challenging because surgeons need to strike a balance between removing the complete tumor and preserving the maximum possible structure and function of the affected organ. Robotic surgery assists in achieving these surgeical goals more efficiently than conventional surgery.

Our Offerings

  • Colon and Rectal Cancer: Robotic surgeries can effectively manage colon and rectal cancer. The surgeons, with the help of robotic arms, dissect the tissues more meticulously. Certain cases, such as total mesorectal excision, are complex due to the narrow field of surgery in the pelvic cavity. Robotic techniques can overcome these limitations of open surgery.
  • Esophageal Cancer: A robotic esophagectomy removes a part or the entire esophagus to manage esophageal cancer. The study found that, compared to conventional surgery, robotic-assisted esophagectomy results in less stress and improved cardiopulmonary function. Further, the robotic surgery technique has the advantage of removing the lymph nodes more precisely than the thoracoscopic approach.
  • Stomach Cancer: Robotic-assisted gastrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for managing gastric adenocarcinoma which the most common type of stomach cancer. The robotic arms can rotate and bend more smoothly and precisely to provide better clinical outcomes. In addition, the patients have a reduced risk of forming a pancreatic fistula and experiencing intraoperative blood loss.
  • Pancreatic Cancer: Robotic surgery also finds application in treating pancreatic cancer. This surgical technique is ideal for patients with tumors in the pancreatic tail. The eligibility of patients with pancreatic cancer for robotic surgery is determined by a detailed imaging analysis of the size and location of the tumor.
  • Urological Cancer: The introduction of robotic surgery in managing urological malignancies has resulted in favorable outcomes and increased survival. Several types of urological cancers are treated with robotic surgery. These are prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and cancer of the adrenal glands.
